So I am at a crossroads. I keep hearing all the hype with the new iPod Touch (iTouch, horrible name but I keep calling it that for some reason). So I have decided to upgrade my iPod to the new iPod Touch. But as I am reading other blogs and talking to friends, I’m wondering if I should get the iPod Touch or just an iPhone. At first I think that is a stupid question. I am a T-Mobile client and just got the new Dash from them a few months ago. And being a T-Mobile client, I am NOT a AT&T client. There are several unlock software options out there but why would I want another phone?
It seems idiotic that this question is even a question. I like my iPod now but it doesn’t have video and all the cool features the new one has. I am always one who likes to have the coolest geek toy out there and I think the iPod Touch is it right now.
I think back to a few months ago when I knew people racing out to get the new iPhone. They weren’t too happy a couple of weeks ago. I hope I won’t end up like that if I was to get an iPod Touch. I doubt it with all the heat that Apple took with how they handled the iPhone situation but you never know.
In the end, all I am looking for is a new MP3 player and the iPod Touch sounds like it will do excellently. But on the other hand, all the features like e-mail and EDGE network are nice.
I would like someone to tell me why I should get one over the other. Right now I am leaning towards the iPod Touch but if anyone knows an argument for or against my opinion, please share.

Im in the same situation right now, I cant decide on which I would prefer. For me, the itouch is extra memory (16gb) but the iPhone has more features. I guess i can use 3 party apps for the itouch when i get it.

That’s what I am wishing for as well. Hoping that there are some really sweet 3rd party applications written for it.

go with the i-phone! the touch doesn’t have all the same widgets – even though it has wifi.
i’ve reviewed my experience with the i-phone on my blog – http://www.burningthebacon.com/2007/09/17/i-get-it-after-hacking-my-i-phone/

Get the iTouch. If you get the iPhone then you will have to pay a monthly bill and for the iTouch it is just one time.

Im thinking of an ipod touch also. but, i am not sure which to get cuz they are both pretty cool. although i have a cool phone already, i would still get an iphone. the only thing i dont like about the iphone is that you have to pay a mounthly bill for you applications, but in the ipod touch, you dont have to. its just like once and done. the price for the iphone is also greater which is almost a deal breaker for me. but its really up for you… which ever one you like best.

With an insanely simple jailbreak (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4374123522828622819&q=jailbreak+ipod+touch&total=429&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1)
you can install any iPhone applications for the iPod Touch. This means that if there is anything like a mail app for iPhone that does not exist for the iPod Touch, you can download it. One thing you can do (which I am assuming is probably illegal) is find the iPhone application files somewhere online and download them onto your iPod Touch. These would include Mail, Maps, Notes, Weather, and the iPhone version of Calendar (which I have heard can do more than the iPod Touch version).
Doing this simple stuff can pretty much give you the iPhone without the phone, which I believe is definitely worth it.

What I would do is buy the iTouch, and Tether it to your T-Mobile dash (Tethering, is using your phone as a wireless modem for your devices (usualy your computer, but..)), that way everyone wins (except for AT&T)

Well ive got the new ipod touch and it is a pretty amazing piece of kit. It has all the fun stuff that the iphone has except without a phone, camera, and better wi fi connection. Even though ive got the ipod touch theres something thats saying inside me 2 upgrade and get the iphone. I reccomend that you get the best and go for the iphone.
